Prof. Brynley F. Roberts

Professor Brynley F. Roberts is a native of the Cynon Valley, and was a prominent academic of the Welsh language and the literary history of Wales for over half a century.

From 1978 to 1985 he was Professor of Welsh at the University of Wales, before serving as National Librarian from 1985 to 1994. He has also been a member of the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, and played a key role in establishing a relationship between the university departments of Welsh and the Coleg Cymraeg.

In 2013 he delivered the inaugural Edward Llwyd lecture, a series of lectures funded by the Coleg and the Learned Society of Wales.
