Chair of the Coleg's Board of Directors

APPOINTING A NEW CHAIR FOR OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol is looking for a new Chair to lead it at an exciting time.

This is a special opportunity for an experienced individual who is keen to use their skills and experience in governance, leadership and education to lead an ambitious national planning body for which the Welsh language is at the heart of its purpose and vision.

The Coleg leads the development of Welsh-medium and bilingual education and training in the post-compulsory sector in Wales. The Coleg achieves this by working in partnership with universities, further education institutions and apprenticeship providers to build a first-class, inclusive Welsh-medium education and training system.

As Chair, you will lead the Board of Directors and the Coleg in implementing our Strategic Plan, which focuses on expanding and developing opportunities for students and learners in the context of the Welsh Government's 2050 Welsh Language Strategy and other policy priorities.

The Chair's main duties are to provide strategic leadership, and to guide the Board in the formulation and approval of strategies, to monitor performance, and to ensure that strong governance structures oversee the full range of the Coleg's work.

The appointment will be for a period of four years.

Please note that the Coleg’s constitution requires that the Chair is fluent in Welsh and in English. To apply for this role, please complete and return the application form to Dr Dylan Phillips by e-mail at d.phillips@colegcymraeg.ac.uk below by 12.00 o’clock on 1 June 2022.

Applications are welcome from all sections of the community. The principles of fair and open competition will apply, and the appointment will be made on merit.
