“How is space / place created through reality and imagination?”
Sessions will include discussions on the creation and description of place through literature, interpretation of image, analysis of the nature of place and how it is conveyed e.g. branding and advertising. It is a one day multidisciplinary conference in the Arts and Geographical Science. The conference will also include short presentations for postgraduates. A discussion panel will include speakers from a range of fields including media, design and literature.
The conference is a means of bringing together researchers from different backgrounds such as the humanities, literature, languages, art, business and marketing. The conference is a result of joint discussions concerning increasing theoretical links between cultural and geographic domains- research that remains minimal in terms of Wales and the Welsh language. The conference is intended to create a co-edited publication that explores identity from the viewpoint of place and its numerous aspects.
The event will be hosted by the School of Environment, Natural Resources & Geography, Thoday Building, Bangor University, LL57 2UW. If you would like to register, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
There is no charge for the event. This conference is a joint initiative between the Geography Department, Bangor University and the Department of Welsh in the Workplace, University of South Wales, Treforest and is sponsored by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
