Coleg Lecturers Prepares for a Bilingual Workforce

Tuesday 3 October 2017
A group of Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol lecturers have been an integral part in establishing and developing a network that has won one of the Welsh Government's More Than Just Words awards today.

The winner of the ‘Innovation’ category of the Awards, presented at the Cardiff City stadium is the Welsh Language Scholarship and Education Network, Cardiff University.

The Network was formally established in 2017 and brings together colleagues from all subject areas within the College to ensure that our students have every opportunity to develop the essential Welsh medium skills that they need for clinical practice.

The interprofessional approach led by the Network has led to successful bids for Coleg Cymraeg grants to fund e-learning resources on subjects including clinical skills, communication and professionalism within healthcare.

Dr Dafydd Trystan, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Registrar, said: "Congratulations to the Coleg lecturers involved in the Network. The award is a testament to the contribution of the Coleg’s medicine, nursing and pharmacy lecturers to the national agenda for the future delivery of a bilingual workforce in the field of health and care.
