The Coleg Cymraeg has announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors. Ann Beynon, Dr Anwen Jones and Professor Enlli Thomas will have taken up their roles by the beginning of April and will be in position for a four-year period.

Ann Beynon's career has encompassed both the public and private sectors. Over the last twenty years, she has mainly worked in the private sector with large FTSE 100 companies such as BT and Hafren Dyfrdwy. Now a Non-Executive Director of two companies and an independent advisor to the Senedd, Ann is also the Chair of Cronfa William Salesbury, which supports Welsh-medium higher education by providing grants to students studying through the medium of Welsh.

Dr Anwen Jones is Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Aberystwyth University, leading on the development of Welsh-medium academic and scholarly provision across the University while also leading the faculty’s ten academic departments. As a Trustee of the National Library and member of the Council of Deans of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, she has considerable experience of providing strategic advice on various matters. Anwen has been active in promoting the development of colleagues' Welsh-medium academic provision and research output throughout her career. She is the editor of the Coleg's multidisciplinary scholarly e-journal, Gwerddon, and makes a significant contribution to the promotion of Welsh-medium scholarship through her research in Theatre Studies, including her recent volumes on the contributions of W. S Jones (Wil Sam) and Hywel Teifi Edwards to the development of drama and theatre in Wales.

nlli Thomas is Professor in Education Research and Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Welsh at Bangor University. Enlli is responsible for maintaining a world-class research portfolio and supporting other staff to reach their potential. She also assists the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Welsh and Civic Mission in shaping the University's strategic direction for Welsh and bilingualism. Over a period of twenty years, Enlli has made a substantial contribution to securing Welsh-medium provision at Bangor University's School of Psychology and has been responsible for developing many resources and a large number of important research projects that have influenced policy on Welsh in education. Since 2017, Enlli has also been a member of the Welsh Language Partnership Council that provides strategic advice to Welsh Government ministers on the Welsh language.

Gareth Pierce, Chair of the Coleg's Board of Directors, said: "We are delighted to be able to appoint Ann Beynon, Dr Anwen Jones and Professor Enlli Thomas to the Coleg's Board of Directors. All three have already given many years of service to public life in Wales and we look forward to their contributions to the Coleg Board.  I very much look forward to working with them in the years to come."
