Coleg’s e-learning library redeveloped

14 September 2016
The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s online library has been upgraded to allow students and lecturers to take advantage of the latest e-learning technology.

The ‘Llyfrgell’ is home to hundreds of Welsh-medium higher education resources on a wide range of subjects.

“One of the Coleg’s aims is to develop quality resources for Welsh-medium students,” said Dr Ioan Matthews, Chief Executive of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. “With over 1,000 courses available for Welsh-medium students, having a central platform for resoures is essential.

“As a result of the recent redevelopment work, we’re confident that the Llyfrgell will continue to be an important online destination for Welsh-medium students, offering them a first-rate teaching experience.”

The recent upgrade means that the Llyfrgell’s users will be able to take advantage of recent developments in e-learning technology, such as interactive videos and quizzes and lecture-capture technology. Lecturers will also be able to edit videos and record live television. The Coleg will provide training for staff wishing to use these facilities.

The Llyfrgell includes resources such as lectures, ebooks, television programmes from S4C’s archive, scientific articles and study advice. Over 600 resources are fully open and available for the public to view. Students and staff can log in to view and use the other resources, which are available for educational purposes only.
