The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol wishes to appoint a Further Education and Apprenticeships project officer to assist in the development of specialist resources for the health and care and childcare sector.
In December 2017, the Cabinet Secretary for Education announced that the terms of reference of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol (the Coleg) would be extended to the Further Education (FE) and Apprenticeship sectors.
During 2020-21 a Welsh medium and bilingual resource needs identification project was undertaken to complete the Level 3 Childcare course: Practice and Theory. The need for resources to support the teaching of the optional units of this course was identified namely:
• Supporting Children Living with Diabetes
• Children's Physical Care
• Responding to anaphylactic reactions
• Supporting children living with epilepsy
• Palliative and end of life care for children and young people
• Providing care for children living with cancer
• Giving nasal flu vaccinations
• Providing stoma care
• Caring for non-complex wounds
• Carrying out hearing screening tests for school-age children
• Supporting continence care in children
• Supporting individuals by feeding with a tube
It is intended to appoint one project officer to create links and a resource project plan for the units listed above. The officer will need to work with staff in the Childcare sector, as well as staff in the Health and Care sector, due to the nature of the resources. The project officer will work closely with the further teaching and apprenticeship development officer (resources and qualifications) and also the further education and apprenticeships manager.
