The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol provide an online dictionary of standardized terms for students and lecturers to facilitate the process of studying, teaching and researching through the medium of Welsh at university level.
The dictionary contains technical terms from a wide range of academic fields, including Biology, Chemistry, Sport, Law, Sociology, Health Sciences, Geography, History, Business, Psychology, Woodland Management, the Creative Industries and Maths and Physics. It is expanded continuously to include additional terms and subject areas. Each term notes which subject area they belong to.
Some terms may include definitions, including diagrams, equations, and illustrations to provide a clearer explanation. In these definitions, there are also links to other related terms.
The work is managed by Dr Shân Pritchard, a terminologist based at the Language Technologies Unit, Canolfan Bedwyr, Bangor University. Dr Rhianwen Daniel is an assistant terminologist.
All terms and definitions comply with international ISO standards and the work is undertaken in close collaboration with subject experts within the higher education sector and beyond.
If you would like to know more about the dictionary or term standardization, or would like to contribute to the project, please contact Shân by email: email@example.com.
