There have been vast developments in professional sport, with athletes exposed to hours of training. However, exposure to the chronic and intense physical and mental strain can change the physical and psychological well-being of the athletes across the continuum which goes beyond severe fatigue. This leads to failure in training, which affects their development as successful athletes as they suffer the symptoms of over-training and under-performance, illness and injury.
In order to overcome such issues, athletes need to be monitored regularly using physiological and psychological methods, along with other methods. Despite the research that has already been established in the field, one definitive answer is needed regarding how to avoid or reduce the risk of injury in high-risk individuals.
