Why choose to study the degree subject: Love travelling, learning about landforms and the earth's physical processes
Why choose to study in Welsh: I believe that Welsh-medium education at higher education level is important in order to be able to use the language in the professional world.
What's the best thing about studying the course in Welsh: I can write much better and quicker, and I understand the work better. I have also met a great group of friends who are doing the same course.
Any advice for prospective students concerned about studying in Welsh: Go for it! The ability to study through both languages shows employers that you can adapt your ways of working. You'll have an opportunity to get to meet new people going through the same experiences as you, which is a great comfort. Your Welsh language ability doesn't need to be amazing, because there's a lot of staff and support at university to help you with any issues or difficulties, so your skills will improve as you progress.
Would you encourage others to apply for a Coleg Cymraeg scholarship: Definitely! When you reach university you'll realise how quickly money gets spent, so the scholarship is a great help.
Why apply to be an ambassador: I applied to be an ambassador because I believe strongly in my language rights. Why should I not be able to continue with my education in Welsh after leaving secondary school?! I look forward to sharing my first year experiences with pupils and to show how useful the Coleg's support is. I'm a veteran of the eisteddfod 'crowd' so I'm looking forward to that opportunity.
What do you enjoy most about being in university in Wales: The opportunity to socialise in Welsh. It would be a huge loss if I couldn't use my first language in my everyday life.
Hobbies: Listening to live music, Yoga, Pilates, cooking.
Likes: Velvet Underground, travelling, garlic.
Dislikes: Baked beans, spiders.
Favourite Welsh language programme/film: Ryan a Ronnie
