Why did you choose to study the degree subject?

Since spending a few weeks on work experience in a school during years 10 and 12, I was sure that I wanted to work with children and train to be a teacher.

Why did you choose to study through the medium of Welsh?

Continuing to study through the medium of Welsh was a natural step for me. I have been educated entirely through the medium of Welsh and therefore I wanted to continue to study a course in my first language and take advantage of my ability to speak Welsh.

What's the best thing about studying a course partly through the medium of Welsh?

Being able to complete work in my first language without having to worry about translating any piece of the work is an enormous relief. Speaking Welsh with everyone in lectures every day is also great.

Any advice for prospective students who are worried about studying through the medium of Welsh?

There is no need to worry at all. There is plenty of support available to help you and everyone is glad to see people developing their language further.

Would you encourage others to apply for a Coleg Cymraeg scholarship and why?

I would 100% encourage others to apply for a scholarship. I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship and the application process was so easy. The money is also a huge help to buy resources that can enrich the learning experience, and extra money is always helpful at university.

Why did you apply to be an ambassador and what are you most looking forward to?

I applied because I am very grateful to the Coleg Cymraeg for the honour of winning the William Salesbury scholarship and I am looking forward to working with other students to promote Welsh-medium education in universities to prospective students.

What do you enjoy most about being at university (in Wales)?

The close community and sense of belonging is great. I have got to know so many people in such a short period of time and the Welsh Society nights are great and so much fun.
