Branch Officer: Daniel Tiplady

The Cardiff Metropolitan University branch of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol is a lively and friendly branch. From welcome events to city gigs, the branch is an excellent opportunity for students to get to know fellow Welsh speakers at the Met.

The branch office is located on the Cyncoed campus in an ideal location, not far from the University’s amazing sports facilities and the Students’ Union. So you can jump straight from the swimming pool, or from a run in the South Wales Indoor Athletic Hall, to the Union for a healthy meal or a drink.

The University offers career services through the medium of Welsh for students and graduates, including career interviews, assistance with CVs and application forms, as well as career lectures that discuss job searching and planning for the future.

The branch works closely with the ‘GymGym’ (the University’s Welsh language society) to organise opportunities for students to socialise in Welsh with students from all over the country. One of the branch’s big annual events is the gig at Clwb Ifor Bach, arranged for Coleg members for the whole of Wales. We hope to see you there next year!

Student Opinion

“I love studying sport in Welsh and being part of the Met branch! Studying at the Met, I’ve learned so many new things and have got to know loads of other students from across Wales and beyond. The branch gives you an opportunity to get to know Welsh-speaking students and to be part of a close and friendly community. Since I study nearly all my degree through the medium of Welsh I succeeded in being awarded one of the Coleg’s Main Scholarships, worth £3,000. This has been a massive help for my studies.”
