Jonathan has been working at Cardiff University since 2012 where he has taught a number of modules for first language and second language students. He has also taught on the national Sabbatical Scheme.
Previously, he worked as a Welsh second language lecturer and a Welsh for Adults tutor at Yale College, Wrexham, and as a teaching assistant in the Department of Linguistics and English Language at the University of Manchester.
He is interested in sociolinguistics, in particular of Welsh and English in Wales, but he has also researched other areas where more than one language or dialect is spoken (especially German speaking areas). For his doctorate, he explored phonological and phonetic variation among young people in north Wales.
