Rhianedd studied Modern Languages (Italian and French) at Oxford University. After obtaining her BA, she decided to focus on Italian literature, and received an M.St in the subject.
She remained at Oxford to study towards a D.Phil in Italian. Her PhD topic was language and identity in the work of the Sardinian writer, Grazia Deledda. During that period, Rhianedd worked as the University’s Celtic lector, and as an Italian tutor at St Anne’s College.
Subsequently, she worked as a lecturer in Welsh at Swansea University.
