After qualifying as a Registered General Nurse in 1985, Anwen worked for many years in various Orthopaedic roles.
In 2008, she decided to change direction, and went to study at UWIC Cardiff where she received a Certificate of Education (PCET). Then, while working as a Health and Safety Instructor with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board she completed an MSc Advanced Practice at Cardiff University in 2011.
Between 2011 and 2014 she was seconded on a part-time basis to work as a Facilitator for mentorship within the Clinical Teachers team, and as associate lecturer with the School of Nursing and Midwifery Studies at Cardiff University.
Thereafter she worked as a research nurse at the Clinical Research Centre of the National Institute for Social Care and Health Research (NISCHR CRC) supporting various clinical trials and research studies.
