The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol works closely with five Welsh universities to provide the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education through the medium of Welsh (TUAAU).
This is a qualification aimed at lecturers, both new and experienced, who teach or wish to teach through the medium of Welsh, that confirms they possess the skills required to be educators in the higher education sector.
The scheme begins with a residential induction course, held over a two day period, containing a series of introductory workshops. Participants will then be expected to attend a specified number of workshops during the qualification and to build a portfolio reflecting their teaching skills.
The Coleg works in partnership with the following universities to provide this qualification through the medium of Welsh:
- Swansea University
- Aberystwyth University
- Bangor University
- University of Wales Trinity Saint David
- Cardiff Metropolitan University
The qualification is provided as a qualification at each of these universities in a slightly different format, and its varients are known as the tHE, PgCTHE, and PGCertHE. However, it is possible to undertake the various versions of the qualification entirely through the medium of Welsh by attending the residential induction course and the training workshops provided jointly by the Coleg and the local institutions. Anyone wishing to undertake the qualification should contact the staff development department of their local institution.
By working with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, the Coleg can also provide staff members from the University of South Wales access to the Welsh-medium scheme. Anybody wishing to follow this route should in the first instance contact the Coleg.
The next residential PGCTHE Course will be held in Lampeter on 10-11 January 2019. For further information, please contact us via e-mail: email@example.com
