This year students who aim to study 100% of their course through the medium of Welsh have the opportunity to apply for the William Salesbury Scholarship which is worth £5,000.
Over 60 courses are available entirely through the medium of Welsh and therefore are eligible for this generous scholarship. This year any prospective students have until the 20 March to submit their application.
Nest Jenkins, a former Ysgol Bro Pedr pupil was awarded the scholarship last year. Nest is the fourth pupil to receive the scholarship which is offered by the William Salesbury fund to a student, who is a member of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
She is currently studying for a degree in Law and Welsh at Cardiff University:
“Having researched the information about the scholarship, I realised that it was possible to study all of my course through the medium of Welsh and therefore I was eligible for the award. It was too good of an opportunity to miss. Go for it , the process is simple and good luck!”
The William Salesbury Scholarship is in addition to those scholarships already offered annually by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. Any student who is studying 33% of their course through the medium of Welsh can apply for the Incentive Scholarship of £1,500.
It is possible to study numerous subjects for example Geography, Sports or Medicine. The closing date for the Incentive Scholarhip is 8 May 2018.
