Evaluating the relationship between language regeneration efforts and modern economic development strategies
There is a lack of understanding of how economic development within a specific area affects regional or minority languages, in terms of the number of speakers, geographical density, or the tendency to use the language. It is also unclear whether government plans and strategies to promote economic development link with official strategies with the aim of promoting regional or minority languages.
The aim of this study is to bridge this gap in our knowledge and improve our understanding of the overlap between economic policy and forecasting and the growth of minority and regional language communities in Wales and Europe.
