To celebrate International Freedom of the Press day, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David will be launching a new innovative project, Botwm y Byd (trs. World Button), at the Wales Centre for International Affairs, Temple of Peace, Cardiff between 12.30 – 1.30 on Friday, 3 May 2013.

It has been announced today (8 January 2013) that Dr Hywel Griffiths from the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences at Aberystwyth University is the new deputy editor of Gwerddon, the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s journal.

The Institute of Mathematics and Physics in Aberystwyth University is celebrating an exceptional year in terms of recruitment. Not only has the Institute recruited record numbers to study Mathematics and Physics, but the numbers studying an element of these subjects through the medium of Welsh is the best ever.

At the recent ‘Legal Wales 2012’ conference the top prize was awarded to two Welsh-medium postgraduate students who, in different ways, are very active with Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol activities.

Lowri Morgan, Honorary Fellow of Swansea University will open the first event of the Swansea University Branch of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, on the afternoon of Wednesday 5 December 2012.

A multidisciplinary conference was held on 16 and 17 November at Bangor University, as a result of funding from the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. The conference, which focused on different elements of Welsh language campaigning, was organised jointly by the School of Welsh at Bangor University and the Institute of Welsh Politics, Aberystwyth University.

A multidisciplinary research conference entitled ‘Y Ferch Greadigol’ has been hailed a success. The conference, held at Bangor University’s School of Music, was sponsored by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and provided delegates with an interesting mix of presentations by academics and research students from across Wales.

An inter-collegiate moot competition was held between students studying Law at Cardiff and Aberystwyth Universities at this year's National Eisteddfod in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Today (7 August) in a lecture at the Vale of Glamorgan National Eisteddfod, the author and journalist Rhys Evans stated that the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol has a ‘key place in the next chapter of the history of Wales for the Welsh language to continue to be viable’.

The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol is launching a Certificate in Welsh Language Skills that will acknowledge the Welsh language skills of university students. The launch will be held at the National Eisteddfod on Monday 6 August at 15:30, and Leighton Andrews AM, Minister for Education and Skills will be present.

The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s annual lecture at the Vale of Glamorgan National Eisteddfod this year will mark and celebrate the centenery of the birth of Gwynfor Evans. The title of the lecture is Gwynfor’s Century: Melancholy, Modernism and the Welsh Heartland and it will be delivered by Rhys Evans, broadcaster and author of the biography, Gwynfor: Rhag Pob Brad.

During the Vale of Glamorgan National Eisteddfod this year, the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol will hold an event to launch a new volume by Proffesor R. Gwynedd Parry – Cymru’r Gyfraith: Sylwadau ar Hunaniaeth Gyfreithiol. This is the first time in around thirty years an academic Welsh medium law volume has been published.
