Tomorrow’s Doctors

Do you want to study Medicine at university? 

Why not sign up to be part of the Tomorrow’s Doctors scheme? 

‘Tomorrow’s Doctors’ is a scheme where we arrange various activities for you, to prepare you for applying for a place on a Medicine course. 

The scheme’s activities include: 

  • Meeting people who work in the field of medicine, and students who are currently studying medicine, to hear about their experiences.  
  • Developing your understanding about the sector and the types of skills that you will need to work in the world of medicine. 
  • Developing your skills to help you to apply successfully. 
  • Preparing you for the interview process.  
  • You will also learn why following part of the Medicine course in Welsh will help you to get a job in the future.  

2024 Sessions:

16 April
Introduction to the programme

A chat over a cuppa with Menai Evans from Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, Sara Vaughan, Cardiff University, Dr Lauren Blake, Swansea University and Dr Marc Edwards, Bangor University.

30 April
Work Experience

A workshop on how to secure work experience with Dr Cerys Edwards, Swansea University.

14 May
C21 Cardiff University Medical School Curriculum

4 June
Bangor University Medical School Curriculum

Conversations with a number of professional doctors

An opportunity to meet experienced practitioners from different specialisms.

Alternative routes to medicine

Information about the different options available to qualify as a doctor with Dr Llinos Roberts, Swansea University. 

16 July
Studying through the medium of Welsh and the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Scholarship

A session by Dr Awen Iorwerth and Dr Alun Owens, lecturers at Cardiff University.

10 September
The Personal Statement

Question and answer session on preparing a Personal Statement. Current medical students will contribute to this session.

22 October
Traditional medical interviews

A session to discuss and practice interviewing skills.

12 November
MMI Interviews

MMI Interview Practice (Multiple Mini Interviews).

10 December
Interviews

A session to provide top tips and share good practice.

Registering

The window for registering for this scheme is January/February every year and an application form must be filled. The window for 2024 has now closed.

The scheme is supported by Cardiff University School of Medicine, Swansea University Medical School and Bangor University Medical School (North Wales Medical School).
